My son fell with his 3rd generation iPod touch in his pocket. He was bummed to see the glass had shattered but happy to see the screen still worked. Even with broken glass, he wanted to continue using it. Since you could feel to edges of the shards of glass we took it from him. We checked into sending it to Apple, but agreed it is way too expensive to follow that route. So we went cheap and ordered this repair kit.

The kit arrived quickly and was well packed. It came with a flimsy plastic pry tool, a small jewelers screw driver, and poor instructions.
I searched youtube for the procedure and watched the video before trying it. (A tip: cover the shattered glass with clear packing tape before trying.) I broke the plastic tool on the second attempt to open the glass. I used several wide precision screw drivers to accomplish the removal. I completed the whole swap in less than 10 minutes.

My only real complaint with the actual product is, you can see the edges of the digitizer film behind the glass. Not a huge deal, but you can tell it is a replacement.
