So I got this ipod gen. 2 with a broken screen free from a buddy. He dropped it and broke the screen and after 2 attempts at fixing it himself by ordering parts on line, gave up and handed it to me. So I get it and see that the screen he had ordered for it in his most recent attempt was definately not the right one. I figured out I need a screen for a 2nd gen ipod found this one very reasonable so ordered. It came as described with screen/digitizer assembly with home button in one easy piece to install, exactly what I needed. I popped the old broke screen off with my fingernail in about a minute thinking, wow, that was easy till I realized my buddy had actually broke the plastic frame away from the glass and all I got off the ipod with my fingernail was the glass. The black frame was still clipped in the ipod. The next 30 minutes were a bit more tidious in getting out the plastic frame. I actually cut some of it out of the edges. When I finally got the frame pieces all out i made sure everything was dust free, took the front and back protection films off the new screen and snapped connection and then frame in place. Had to be a bit rough on the ipod a few times in both getting the old frame out and in snapping the new one in. Give it a good squeeze around the edges to make sure its together right. Three weeks later its working great.
